CHAPTER
C. Berger

consulting and staffing firms, recently announced that Joel Patrick
Berger, CBG President, was elected as President Elect of the Special
Libraries Association (SLA) Wisconsin Chapter. SLA is a nonprofit
global organization for innovative information professionals and their
strategic partners. SLA serves more than 11,000 members in 75 countries
in the information profession, including corporate, academic, and
government information specialists. Visit
www.sla.org for additional background. The Wisconsin Chapter of
the Special Libraries Association was established in 1931 and has
approximately 168 members representing large corporations, law firms,
universities, government and non-profit institutions. The mission of
the Wisconsin Chapter is to provide opportunities for members to develop
professionally and to enhance their communication networks, thereby
increasing the value of the profession and supporting the mission of the
Special Libraries Association.
Mr.
Berger’s election was announced at the SLA Wisconsin Annual Business
Meeting in Delafield, WI in December. “I am excited about the
opportunity of taking over the reins from Diane Gurtner, who has done a
fantastic job the last year." said Mr. Berger. “Serving as Wisconsin
Chapter President will be a natural progression in my career and an
opportunity to become even more involved in SLA and the profession as a
whole.” An active member of SLA, Joel was elected Treasurer in 2000 and
Director in 2002 of the Illinois Chapter. On the national level, he was
appointed to the SLA Leadership and Management Division (LMD) conference
program planning committee for 2005-2006.
