AWARD AT ILA
ANNUAL CONFERENCE
November
4, 2005, Carol Stream, IL. - C. Berger Group, Inc. (CBG), one of the
nation’s oldest and largest library consulting and staffing firms,
sponsored the Librarian of the Year Award for the 15th year at the
Illinois Library Association (ILA) Annual Conference. The presentation
took place in Peoria during the awards ceremony on October 13, 2005. ILA
established this prize to recognize a librarian's excellence in service
and leadership at the local, state and national levels. CBG provides the
recipient with a gift selected according to his/her special interests and
ILA supplies a framed certificate.
Dr.
James B. Casey, Administrator of the Oak Lawn Public Library, was honored
by his peers with this award, which was presented by Linda Jourdan, CBG
Manager, Client Services. Ms. Jourdan acknowledged Dr. Casey's
extensive participation in ILA and American Library Association (ALA)
activities, his willingness to provide expert advice and mentoring support
to other professionals and his knowledge of governmental policies related
to libraries. She related her personal experiences with Dr. Casey in her
prior public library career. Linda conveyed the sentiments of Joel Patrick
Berger, C. Berger Group's President, who noted that "CBG was proud to
underwrite this event, which recognizes Dr. Casey's outstanding service to
our profession, the library community at large and ILA." Dr. Casey
resides in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Illinois Library Association is a not-for-profit educational organization

millions who depend on them, it provides leadership for the development,
promotion and improvement of library services in Illinois and for the
library community in order to enhance learning and ensure access to

The Librarian
of the Year Award one of several prizes CBG funds or sponsors annually
for professional librarians and support staff of distinction. They
include the Karen J. Switt Leadership Award for the Leadership and
Management Division of the Special Libraries Association in June, the C.
Berger Group Entrepreneurial Promise Award at the University of Illinois
GSLIS in Urbana, The University of Wisconsin SLIS at Madison and
Milwaukee, and Dominican University GSLS, and the Support Staff of the
Year Award at Reaching Forward South in Illinois each September.
