CAROL A. BERGER HONORED WITH NATIONAL
MENTORING AWARD BY PEERS IN TORONTO
Carol
Stream, IL -- June 15, 2005. C. Berger Group, Inc., one of the nation's
oldest and largest library consulting and staffing firms, recently
announced that Carol A. Berger, CBG founder and Manager, Marketing
Communications, received the Rose L. Vormelker Award at the 96th
Annual Conference of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) which was
held in Toronto, June 3-8, 2005. The prize is presented to
individual SLA members in recognition of exceptional services to the
profession of special librarianship in the area of mentoring students
and/or practicing professionals in the field. Ms. Berger was nominated
by members of the SLA Illinois Chapter and cited for her devotion to
giving information professionals opportunities to advance their careers,
advising colleagues and associates and counseling new graduates of
library schools. She accepted the silver and crystal trophy at the
Awards ceremony and reception on June 5.
"Carol
was a trailblazer in providing contingent and permanent employment
options and supported SLA activities on the national and local levels
from the beginning," said Joel Patrick Berger, CBG President.
"She advocated continuing education programs and offered career guidance
to employees, students and peers for over 25 years. Her dedication to
the growth of the library profession and her high standards of quality
service are models for all generations."
The
SLA Rose L. Vormelker Award was named after the Cleveland native who
made unique contributions to the field of librarianship for over three
quarters of a century. Ms. Vormelker earned her library science
certificate from Western Reserve University in 1919 and began her
professional career with the Detroit Public Library as a Reference
Assistant. She accepted a
