BERGER GROUP STAFF ADDRESS ATTENDEES AND PRESENT
KAREN J. SWITT AWARD AT SLA CONFERENCE IN NASHVILLE
Carol Stream, IL - June 18, 2004- Senior managers of
C. Berger Group, Inc. (CBG), the Midwest's largest library personnel and
information management services firm, participated in professional programs and
exhibited at the SLA Annual conference held at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in
Nashville, June 5-10, 2004. Joel Patrick Berger, CBG President, provided
practical job search and career planning advice at two sessions on June 7. Topics included the current and future market for the
profession, resume preparation and interviewing and networking strategies and
techniques for the up coming year. Concurrently, Carol A. Berger, CBG founder
and Manager, Marketing Communications, presented the Karen J. Switt Leadership
Award to Mary Lee Kennedy at the Leadership and Management Division luncheon.
The Award, instituted in 1988, recognizes a Division member's significant
contributions to leadership in the profession of information management over a
five year period. This is the 14th year that CBG has funded the monetary gift;
LMD provides an etched crystal sculpture to the recipient.
"Mary Lee embodies the best qualities and skills
of the Award's namesake," said Carol A. Berger. "She mirrors every LMD
member through her subject expertise, dedication to learning and mentoring. Her
creativity and entrepreneurial spirit have raised the bar and set a new standard
of excellence for future nominees."
Ms. Kennedy's achievements include developing WebLibrary,
the first intranet of its kind in the industry, for the Digital Equipment
Corporation. She also led and delivered on knowledge and information strategies
to meet the global organizational requirements of Microsoft®, where she
was employed as Director of the Knowledge Network Group. She was also
instrumental in supplying corporate-wide shared services for search, taxonomy
and profiles and managed the corporate portal and internal communications. A
former president of the Leadership and Management Division and expert in her
field, Mary Lee is frequently quoted and consulted by key industry publications, speaks
regularly at major conferences and sits on international editorial boards.
She is currently heading her own consulting group which is focused on knowledge
management issues. Ms. Kennedy resides in Cambridge, MA.
In addition to speaking and presenting, CBG managers
staffed a booth in the Conference exhibit hall.
