Our client a public library in the Chicago Metropolitan area has
retained us to help them fill the position of Program Manager.
The CyberNavigator is a newly created
position to work in a revolutionary new Young Adult space and
it's focus is connecting YA patrons to digital media creation
technology and resources. The Program Manager will oversee
the staff of CyberNavigators and Technology Facilitators in
maintaining and monitoring technology equipment and other
resources within the new space. The Program Manager
requires knowledge of digital film, photography and music
recording as well as a strong knowledge of YA literature, film,
music, gaming and more. The Program Manager requires
proficiency with both Windows and Max operating systems as well
as familiarity with a wide range of software including, but not
limited to iMovie, Garageband, and Photoshop. The Program
Manager should be very comfortable working with YA patrons and
developing new programs and providing information services for
this age group.
Duties will include working with Digital Youth Network mentors
to provide digital media creation workshops for YA patrons;
working with Digital Youth Network to create digital technology
driven curriculum designed around book related themes; providing
resources and suppport for Digital Youth Network workshops
including technology assistance; maintaining and growing social
network initiatives for the program (including, but not limited
to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc); developing and providing
programming and outreach to YA patrons, providing outreach to
high schools and youth organizations; marketing library
services and programs to the YA demographic; documenting
procedures, development and outcomes; scheduling and managing
the work of clerical and part-time employees; coordinating class
visits to the new space; and providing information services
assistance to YA patrons at the help desk.
The qualified candidate should have an MLS from an ALA
accredited institution and/or equivalent experience; strong
knowledge of YA literature, film, music and video games and
technologically fluent with both Macs and PCs and digital media
creation software.
